Mindful Cycling, Indescibable Wisdom, Yoga, Meditation

I cycle most days of the week, mostly in the country close to my home, sometimes with my wife. I find this calms the Mind/Spirit and puts me in a trance/heightened sense of awareness as I become one with my surroundings. The inner voice is very still mostly. I take my daily acim lesson with me and tape this to the cockpit of my bike and refer to it when guided, repeat it silently, then listen to the wisdom of Mind, which seemingly stills ItSelf after brief profound pearls of wisdom. I am always smiling with this experience beyond words. When I am not cycling and having to deal with the business of the day, which one needs to deal with, I have yet to experience the same shift. Though I am able to stay reasonably calm with this form of meditation one experiences while cycling. I am thankful with Mindful Cycling experiences and look forward to its daily fix.

My absolutely Heaven sent angel, that is my wife, and I sometimes venture into the tranquility of the Waitakerie Ranges, a vast range of rolling hills covered by a natural bush environment untouched by man, during weekends. The Waitakerie Ranges are about a forty minute drive from Auckland city in the beautiful country we call home, New Zealand. The purity one experiences in this natural element is an experience beyond words. As we climbed deep into the silence of the bush recently, we became aware of a deeper part of ourselves which we do not use in the search for the toys and trinkets of this world.
The bush underfoot is strewn with roots from the myriad of trees and bush, and with the tracks on one side cascading at varying depths, plus overhead branches all along the way, a greater use of ones instincts was quite noticable to both Linda and I. It was great exhilaration to experience this greater use of mind in the miracle of mother nature, and it seems she allows us the moment to experience and use a greater part of ourselves when we attune to her beauty. As we ventured even deeper into the silence of the bush, her beautiful music connected us invisibly to her tranquillity. Our senses seemingly became more heightened the deeper we went.
From some kilometers away, we suddenly heard the gentle sounds of cascading water, picked up only by the spirit of silence which one does not see in the bustle of city life. We headed toward her music, climbing steeply as the sound of her symphony grew ever louder in drawing us to her, like the music of ACIM (A Course in Miracles) did over the recent and long ago past. Suddenly, before us, the bush opened up and exposed the clear clean waters of a pure mountain stream. And not ten meters from us we could witness to an ending, where the fresh cool water of this miracle of mother nature, cascaded, seemingly 100 feet in free fall to the stream that lay far below. Linda and I drunk heartily from her stream. And in that moment Linda and I made a pledge to revisit this spirit of indescribable wisdom regularly.

ACIM Workbook LESSON 153
In my defenselessness my safety lies.

You who feel threatened by this changing world, its twists of fortune and its bitter jests, its brief relationships and all the "gifts" it merely lends to take away again; attend this lesson well. The world provides no safety. It is rooted in attack, and all its "gifts" of seeming safety are illusory deceptions. It attacks, and then attacks again. No peace of mind is possible where danger threatens thus....
Be still a moment, and in silence think how holy is your purpose, how secure you rest, untouchable within its light. God's ministers have chosen that the truth be with them. Who is holier than they? Who could be surer that his happiness is fully guaranteed? And who could be more mightily protected? What defense could possibly be needed by the ones who are among the chosen ones of God, by His election and their own as well?....God has elected all, but few have come to realize His Will is but their own....We will begin each day by giving our attention to the daily thought as long as possible.

ACIM Lesson 155

I will step back and let Him lead the way.
1st paragraph only. One of my favourite quotations

There is a way of living in the world that is not here, although it seems to be. You do not change appearance, though you smile more frequently. Your forehead is serene; your eyes are quiet. And the ones who walk the world as you do recognize their own. Yet those who have not yet perceived the way will recognize you also, and believe that you are like them, as you were before.

Buddhist Tradition Thickens Part of The Brain according to livescience.com

Meditation alters brain patterns in ways that are likely permanent, scientists have known. But a new study shows key parts of the brain actually gets thicker through the practice.

Brain imaging of regular folk who meditate regularly revealed increased thickness in cortical regions related to sensory, auditory and visual perception, as well as internal perception -- the automatic monitoring of heart rate or breathing, for example.

The study also indicates that regular meditation may slow age related thinning of the frontal cortex.

Love is what is left when you let go of all the things you love

In your meditation today...
May your body be still and comfortable...
May your head, neck and trunk be aligned...
May your breath be smooth, slow, serene and with no pauses...
May the flow of thoughts in your mind not disturb you...
May your meditation today bring you peace, happiness and bliss...
